Our placement students, Miles, Emily and Georgie, travelled down to Cambridge last week to attend the British Toxicology Society (BTS) Discovery Toxicology conference, hosted at AstraZeneca’s stunning new premises – the “Disc”.
Georgie presented a poster on Pebble’s LIVING-BLOOD System – a clinically translatable platform conserving the complete immune compartment, as well as 4,000 other blood components, enabling the evaluation of elicited immune responses and assessment of a therapeutic’s safety and toxicity potential.
Miles presented a poster on the LIVING-LIMB system, used to assess transdermal absorption, and subsequent metabolism by the liver, of therapeutics through all three skin, fascia and muscle layers. Miles also gave a quick 5-minute talk presenting his project to attendees, and came home with the award for Best Poster Pitch!
It was a fantastic opportunity for our young scientists to gain insight into the miraculous work that is ongoing within the scientific community. Thankyou for having us!
